Tremendous Trade-off

Here it is folks! The miraculous trade-off, where the Creator of the universe makes His home in those who say, “yes.” A miracle indeed, no longer bound by sin or subject to the evil one who roams the earth. You and I have the extraordinary privilege to say, “yes” to Jesus and receive His new life which is empowered by the Holy Spirit to live according to the word of God. No longer will the wayward desires of our flesh have dominion over our lives, as we follow the ways of the Lord.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they would have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10 NASB). Abundant life refers to “life in its abounding fullness of joy and strength for spirit, soul and body.”

We get to choose who becomes the authority over our life. We can say “yes” to our flesh: following our whims and impulses wherever they lead. There will be no restraint, no godly wisdom, nothing to curtail any direction or activity decided upon. While many people believe they can navigate life on their own intellect and reasoning, there will be no protection from the world’s influence.

On the other hand, saying “yes’ to Jesus, trading your will for His, engages a lifestyle that is out of this world! Christ in us, transforms us into His image with a new identity as a son or daughter in God’s family. A personnel relationship with our heavenly Father, satisfies our heart, reveals our purpose and allows us to participate in the works that Jesus did bringing heaven to earth. Preaching the gospel, healing the sick, releasing the captives and raising the dead, are all possible as we develop our intimacy and grow in faith.

God does not force Himself upon us. We are free to choose the Kingdom of light or darkness. All people will walk through trials and adversity, but with Christ you will never be alone during hardship. Not only will you not be alone, you will have access to the love and power of God for healing, freedom and direction. May you prayerfully consider trading in your way of life for His.
