I was in Hong Kong on a missions trip. There was a Kingdom Culture Conference taking place at the Convention Center and there were about 5,000 attendees. The message was over and the team began to pray for people. I went to a woman and she said both her knees and ankles hurt. She could hardly walk because they were swollen. I knelt down and touched first her knees then her ankles. After a short healing prayer, I stood up and asked her to see if any change took place. She began moving her legs up and down. Then she smiled and started doing deep knee bends. Then she began to dance in circles while smiling and celebrating the healing power of Jesus! I joined her in her celebration!
Jesus says in John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly. (NAS)
Matthew 4:23 And Jesus was going about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.
Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He carried; yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed.
The Bible has numerous accounts of Jesus healing people. “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.” Jesus tells the woman with the issue of blood in Matthew 5:34. This is only one account of many. Jesus also sent His own disciples out to set people free and heal the sick.
Do we believe God is still healing people today? Do we believe that Jesus truly took our sicknesses and diseases to the cross so we could have victory over such things?
As a parent, I would never think of telling my children that if they got sick, it was a form of punishment, therefore stay sick until you learn your lesson. That sounds abusive. People think that sickness is God’s way of teaching them, or disciplining them. If God wanted you to be sick, you would be in sin going to the doctor. God made doctors and uses medicine as a means for people to get healed. My husband is a Doctor, but he also knows God is still healing people today miraculously. God is healing cancers. God is raising the dead. WE see more of this is poorer countries but that is because God is their only hope and they become desperate for God to heal them.
My friend and I were in India preaching in an outdoor church. At ministry time we were taken inside a building to pray for a woman on her death bed. She was barely breathing and flies swarmed around her. My friend took authority over death and we prayer the life of Christ back into her. God raised her back up and she recovered!!
If you are reading this post and do not know if God is still healing people today, I encourage you to pray and seek God on understanding this. He will show you. Once you are convinced Jesus was scourged for our healing, and He is still healing today, then come along and join the multitudes that are praying for the sick and seeing them recover!
