One of the most helpful insights Believers can have, is knowing what season they are in. What is the Lord saying to us right now and how should we respond? WE are entering the summer season and many people take time off work to go on vacation or garden or enjoy the warm sunshine to exercise in. I enjoy swimming so I look forward to the summer to swim. However, what is the Lord saying? It will be different for each of us.
In Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus says, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it; “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Psalm 46:10 says “Cease striving and know that I am God.”
The Lord has taken me through a season of stillness. A season where He literally drove me into His shop, parked me like a car, turned off my engine and lifted up my hood. Some internal adjustments needed to be made. He could not work on me right away because I kept taking myself out of park and rolling away. But eventually as He began to take all my assignments away, by that I mean that I lost interest in doing what I was doing, I stayed parked. It was very uncomfortable at first because stillness is not my strong suit. My love language is service and I want to serve the Lord non-stop. But, I spent a couple months in God’s shop and He made upgrades to my engine and this season of stillness was very productive!
I mentioned the love scripture above because the love of God, in my experience, has not come from “doing ministry.” The love of God that I have received and experience has come from the place of stillness and communion with Him in His presence. You may be called to sit at His feet and receive in this season. You may be called to spend time in the word feeding your spirit man. You may be called into a season of prayer. This is a place of refreshing and restoring your soul. This is a place of revelation. The upgraded external assignment God has for you and I, requires an internal upgrading as well. Oftentimes we need a renewing of the mind. We may need to let go of the old. The stillness season is a place of transition. However, after it’s through you are empowered to begin your new assignment you have been waiting on!
